Search Engine Optimization
What is Search Engine Optimization (S.E.O.)?
SEO is the process by which a website is optimized both on-site and off-site in order to improve its ranking position in the search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing), for certain target keywords, i.e. search phrases that a potential customer would type into Google to find your company’s website.
On-Page SEO Optimization
On-site SEO is implemented by optimizing a website’s page content for target keywords. In additional to keyword optimized content, on the technical side, page tags and the website’s page structure are also important parts to on-site SEO optimization as they facilitate indexing by search engines.
Off-Page SEO Optimization
Off-page SEO is implemented by creating a multi-tier link building campaign which points back to your company’s website. When implementing such a link building campaign, relevance is of great importance as your website will be favored by the search engines more if relevant sites of authority are pointing back to your web address.
SEO Timeframe
SEO is not an overnight process. If your website is fairly new and no link building has ever been done, SEO must be implemented at a delicate pace so as to seem organic to the search engines which is why it can often take up to 6 months to begin seeing results. However, in many cases the wait is certainly worth it as a top ranking position in the search engines could possibly save you thousands of dollars per month in online advertising costs.
Maintenance
SEO is a process which must be constantly maintained. Competitors see the benefit of link building campaigns which is why it is not uncommon for competitor websites to overtake one another as time passes. Many business owners once satisfied with their ranking discontinue their SEO link building campaigns causing them to fall in the rankings over time as competitors ramp up their SEO efforts.
